How get_sifted works
Everything you need to know about your comms command centre — from connecting channels to clearing your inbox on the go.
Getting started
GetSifted connects to your existing communication channels, scans your messages, and uses AI to rank them by urgency. You spend your time on what matters, not on sorting through noise.
Connect your channels
Head to Settings and connect at least one channel to get going.
Your first scan
Once a channel is connected, GetSifted scans your recent messages and runs them through AI triage. The first batch takes a minute or two. After that, scans run automatically to keep things current.
The dashboard
The dashboard is home. When you open GetSifted, you'll see a clean greeting and a count of messages that need your attention. Tap through to your sifted list to start working through them.
Tabs
Sifted — Messages the AI has surfaced for your attention. These are the ones that matter right now. This is your primary working view.
Completed — Messages you've dealt with (marked done or dismissed). They're out of your way but still accessible if you need to revisit.
All — Everything in one place. You can filter by sifted, watched, done, background, needs reply, or overdue using the filter chips at the top.
Urgency levels
Every message is assigned an urgency level by the AI.
| Immediate | Needs your attention now. Time-sensitive, high-stakes, or from someone in your inner circle. |
| Timely | Important but not time-critical today. A meeting request, a follow-up, a document to review. |
| Steady | Worth reading when you have a moment. Project updates, status reports. |
| Low | Informational, no action needed. Newsletters, automated notifications. |
Awkwardness indicators
Messages that need a reply get an awkwardness colour based on how long they've been waiting. Green is fresh, orange is getting overdue, and red means it's been a while — someone might be wondering why you haven't replied.
Time filters
Toggle between Today, 7 days, and 30 days at the top of the dashboard to control what you're looking at.
Fast focus
Fast focus is the quickest way to clear your sifted stack. From the home screen, hit Fast focus to step through messages one at a time instead of scrolling a list.
Two views
Collapsed (card view). One message per screen — sender, summary, and the channel it came from. Hit Done to acknowledge and move on, or Open to expand it.
Expanded (reading view). Full message body, AI summary, and the reply dock if a reply is needed. The same prev/next/done controls live in the top-right.
Keyboard shortcuts
Both views support keyboard navigation, so you can rip through a stack without touching the mouse.
| Key | What it does |
|---|---|
| ← | Previous message (wraps from first → last) |
| → | Next message (wraps from last → first) |
| ↑ or A | Acknowledge — mark done and advance |
| ↓ | Toggle expand — focus card ↔ full reading view |
How AI triage works
Every incoming message goes through a two-stage pipeline.
Stage 1: Pre-filter. Pattern-matching rules catch obvious categories at zero cost — newsletters, automated notifications, marketing emails. About 80% of messages are handled here without needing AI at all.
Stage 2: AI triage. Remaining messages are sent to Claude in batches. The AI considers who the sender is, what they're asking, how time-sensitive the language is, and whether a reply is needed. It assigns an urgency level, a sender tier, and a summary.
Sender tiers
Not everyone deserves the same response speed. The AI classifies senders into four tiers:
Tier 1 — Inner circle. People you're actively working with or who have a direct claim on your time. Same-day response window.
Tier 2 — Active network. Real relationships but no immediate obligation. 1 to 3 day window.
Tier 3 — Warm contacts. Lighter or more distant relationships. 3 to 7 days.
Tier 4 — Cold / unknown. No existing relationship. May not need a reply at all.
Reading and replying
Click any message card to open it. On desktop, the reading pane slides in beside the list. On mobile, it takes over the screen.
From the reading pane you can see the full message, the AI's triage reasoning, and a link to open the message in its original client (Gmail, Outlook, etc.).
AI draft replies
Click Draft via AI to generate a reply suggestion. The AI uses the message context and your writing style to produce something you'd actually send. You can edit the draft before sending, regenerate it, or adjust the tone.
Replying is always opt-in — clicking reply gives you an empty compose pane first. AI draft is a separate action, not automatic.
Native send
On the Pro plan, you can send replies directly from GetSifted. The reply is sent through your actual email account, so recipients see it coming from you as normal — not from a GetSifted address.
WhatsApp assistant
Message the GetSifted WhatsApp number to interact with your inbox conversationally. You can ask natural-language questions or use slash commands for quick access.

/siftme — clear your inbox on the go
Text /siftme to the GetSifted WhatsApp number and it walks you through your entire sifted list one item at a time. Perfect for clearing your inbox on the train, in a queue, or anywhere you've got a spare minute and your phone.
Each item shows you the sender, an AI summary, the channel it came from, and how old it is. You respond with a single letter to decide what to do with it.
Actions

Watches let you set up alerts for specific senders. When a watched sender messages you, GetSifted sends you a WhatsApp notification immediately — regardless of the AI's urgency classification.
Create a watch from the Watches page, or use /watch sender@email.com via WhatsApp. Remove with /unwatch sender@email.com.
Watches are a Pro feature.
Daily digests
GetSifted can send you an AI-generated summary of your inbox via WhatsApp at a time you choose. There are two types:
Morning briefing — a summary of what needs your attention today, grouped by urgency. A good way to start your day without opening multiple inboxes.
Evening wrap-up — a stats-focused summary of what got handled, what's still open, and how much time you saved.
Enable digests in Settings under Notifications. You'll need to verify your WhatsApp number first (a quick OTP code).
You can also trigger either on demand: text /digest or /wrapup to the GetSifted WhatsApp number.
Sender overrides
If the AI consistently gets a sender's priority wrong, you can override it. Open a message from that sender on the dashboard, and in the action menu you'll find options to whitelist (always treat as important) or blacklist (always treat as low priority).
Overrides take effect on the next scan. You can manage all your overrides from the Search page under the Overrides tab.
Themes
Four visual themes are available in Settings:
Dark — the default. Gold accent on near-black. Low eye strain, especially at night.
Light — warm white with blue accents. Great for daytime.
Gold — rich, warm dark palette. A premium feel.
Purple — cool dark palette with a purple accent.
Your theme preference is saved locally and applies across all pages.
